Anregendes Anatolien
Die Instrumentierung des Quartetts lässt zunächst traditionelle Musik aus Anatolien vermuten. Bei Kavpersaz dienen die Roots jedoch nicht als dekoratives Beiwerk, nicht der beiläufigen folkloristischen Unterhaltung, es nutzt das Potential der anatolischen Musiktraditionen. Das Quartett kreiert aus dem Klangreservoir seiner Instrumente und aus dem melodischen und rhythmischen Reichtum Anatoliens einen konzertanten Kosmos.
Nach jahrelanger Bühnenerfahrung in verschiedenen Bands schlossen sich die vier türkischen und kurdischen Musiker erst vor wenigen Monaten zu einem eigenen Ensemble zusammen, um ihre Erfahrungen in ein kunstvolles Ensemblespiel einzubringen.

Inspiring Anatolia
At first glance, the instrumentation of this quartet suggests traditional Anatolian music. The name of the ensemble, Kavpersaz, consists of significant syllables of particular instruments, such as the shepherd’s flute kaval, the Kurdish frame drum erbane, the vase drum darbuka, the Anatolian davul, and the long-neck lute saz. A Western ingredient is the classical guitar and the fretless guitar that over the last twenty years has become a new instrument of the Turkish music culture. For Kavpersaz, the roots neither function as additional decor, nor as random folkloric entertainment; rather, they use the potential of Anatolian music tradition. The quartet creates a musical cosmos from the sound reservoir of its instruments and from the melodic and rhythmic richness of Anatolia.
After many years of experience performing with different bands, the four Turkish and Kurdish musicians gathered and only recently founded their very own ensemble to which they bring their own experiences.
